“To the eyes of the man with imagination, nature is imagination itself.” – William Blake
Dining by Design is the signature fund-raising event for DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. Designers are given an 11' x 11' space to create a setting for dinner for 10. With the goal of blurring the sense of the physical space to heighten the senses when dining, we employed curved walls, reflective surfaces, image scale and layers of plant life. Playing with equilibrium between man and nature, velvets and moss, light and reflection, the simple construct creates an ecstatically lush experience inside a staged box. The dinner itself fell on the Spring Solstice, and was captured by the The New York Times.
